Quilt fabric

Quilt fabricWhen planning your quilt, take care to choose the quilt fabric to best suit your taste and the design of the quilt. Often quilts made from the same pattern will look entirely different just because they were made with different fabrics. Choosing the fabric you will incorporate into the quilt is the first and very important step.

Consider the following information when choosing quilt fabric:

• Type of fabric – there are many natural fibers as well as synthetics that are suitable for quilting.
• Color – coordinated fabrics as well as mismatched “scrappy” looks are options.
• Patterns mix well in quilts. Consider patterns that share some of the same colors.

If you take shopping for quilt fabric seriously, you are on your way to a great finished product. The quality, type, style and pattern of fabric all contribute to your quilt. Take the time to select fabric that embraces the pattern of your quilt.
