Quilt racks
Previously,
quilt racks were used to keep quilts close by in case an extra blanket
was needed on chilly nights. Now quilt racks are used to display your
quilts and create a welcoming, homey atmosphere. There are varying designs
of racks to choose from.
• Floor racks generally hold one quilt and are made of wood or
iron.
• Ladder racks look like a ladder and have hanging rods to store
multiple quilts. These racks lean against a wall and are great for displaying
more than one quilt. You may want to use two or more ladder racks if
you have an extensive quilt collection to display.
• Hanging racks adhere securely to the wall with hardware. These
racks often have a shelf above the hanging rod for decorative items
or photos.
It is important to measure quilt racks carefully. They tend to vary
greatly in size. If the rack is in a ready-to-assemble kit, you’ll
want to jot down the dimensions and take the home to see if the rack
will fit in your space and if it will hold your quilt in an attractive
manner.
