Quilts
Quilts
are made with a fabric quilt top and backing that has batting sandwiched
in between the fabric layers. The quilt is sewn together in a process
called quilting. This can be done by hand or with a machine.
Quilts have a long and rich history. They have been used for hundreds
of years as bed coverings for warmth. It has become an art form. This
art form is still vibrant today. Most communities have thriving quilting
associations, classes and groups. Young and old alike are drawn to this
enjoyable activity as an expression of creativity.
To further your knowledge of quilts, you may wish to attend a quilt
show, expo or class. Consult your newspaper and community crafting locations
to discover when these events are held. Watch out though – you
